30 miles (50 kilometers) southeast of Dresden in the state of Saxony (Germany) lies the Elbe Sandstone Mountains, also known as the Saxon Switzerland National Park. Video shots can only give a
faint impression of the very individual and mystical beauty of this region. The peripheral areas frequently visited by tourists lack the fascinating beauty. But whoever reaches the depths of the core zone with its ancient sandstone rocks, a fascinating world opens up for them, in which the past of millions of years becomes tangible. In the core zone, there's no human intervention in nature, except for paths that have been laid out. Therefore this area is in fact a primeval forest. Many of the rocks are open for climbing. Especially free climbers from all over the world consider that place to be a paradise, due to the surface characteristics of the rocks which are perfectly suitable for free climbing.
